The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) powers the commonwealth’s digital government, providing cybersecurity, IT infrastructure services and IT governance.
One of VITA’s responsibilities is procuring technology goods and services on behalf of its customers, the state agencies.
VITA has engaged AISN to host Virginia.gov and provide eGov hosting services across the commonwealth. Over time, AISN has become a one-stop shop for eGov solutions and services. In Virginia, AISN’s eGov services are available to any public entity, including counties, independent cities and educational institutions, under multiple contracts: CAI ITCL Statement of Work Contract – Application Development, VITA eGov Hosting Contract VA-120416-AISN, and VITA eGov Operations and Maintenance Contract VA-120413-BPI.
Challenge
VITA wanted to provide eGov customers with more flexibility and choice as they took steps to increase efficiencies and lower costs. Its customers required a fully compliant hosting contractor who could provide a highly available, disaster resilient hosting environment, and at the same time, help them lower their bottom line.
Solution
In a matter of months, the AISN team on-boarded the newly developed and very robust Virginia.gov website and the portals of more than a dozen agencies. Soon, about a dozen more agencies and eGov entities would follow. Still, more are to come.
